Isobel, m. Sir Hugh Campbell of Loudoun, sheriff of Ayrshire[2][5]
Research Note
In a section devoted to Cathcarts, Paul reports Sibella, daughter of John, second Lord Cathcart and Margaret Douglas of Drumlanrig married John Wallace of Craigie, Ayrshire. He is described as son and heir of Hugh Wallace of Craigie. There is no Hugh Wallace in this line in this time frame.[1] John did have a younger brother named Hugh.
Rodger states: He married Catharine Douglas, daughter to the Earl of Angus, now Duke of Douglass.[6] They had one son:
John's daughter Isobel is estimated to have been born prior to 1489. Allowing for a gestation period and minimum age for marriage of 14, one can infer that John was born prior to 1474. Certainly he was at least 14 when he leased land from the burgh of Prestwick on 5 Dec 1489, which also places his birth prior to 5 Dec 1475, but although he could be only 14 as a witness, one can expect he was of full age to lease land, placing his birth prior to 5 Dec 1468. Until an expert in 15th c. Scots law can confirm the minimum age requied to lease land dictates otherwise, the 1474 date will be used.

Wallace-7438 and Wallace-4629 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate. The Wallace-4629 profile had very little in the way of sources The reference to the Scot;s Peerage was for an older Wallace not the 8th of Craigie. The web site thepeerage.com link seemed correct although not a 'reliable source' and has been retained. More precisely, I copied the bio from Wallace-7438 to Wallace-4628 as there was nothing in conflict. When merging, it would be best to select only one bio and NOT a merged copy to avoid then having to delete the duplicatoin.
