Margaret (Margery) Walling (Wallen) was the daughter of Elisha Walling and Mary Blevins. No source reliably establishing her date of birth has been found.[1][2] However, she was likely born between 1736-1744, either in Prince George's County, Maryland (where her father appears in 1733) or on the southwestern Virginia frontier where her father appears by 1741.[3]
She married Isaac (or John) Rice.[4][1] This marriage reportedly occurred in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, possibly in about 1759.[2][5]

Margery reportedly died in about 1812 in Hawkins County, Tennessee, although the original source for this claim is unclear.
None of the available sources found so far include reliable birth dates or even birth order for most of the children of Elisha Walling Sr. and Mary Blevins. Maribelle Wilder provides dates for some of the children, but confirms that most are estimates and "dates of birth cannot be ascertained with certainty in most cases."[6] Carolyn Wallin provides only the list of children with no birth dates and makes clear that the birth order is unknown.[7] The estimated date of 1739 in this profile assumes that Margery was the second of the three daughters (Sarah, Margery & Betsey) identified by Mattie (Rice) Howard in 1868[8] and that all three girls were born between Joseph and James, but this is highly speculative.
