I'm simply looking for the truth in building a family tree that can be revised, corrected and improved by following generations. I have built a tree on ancestry.com that now numbers over 14,000 names but I would rather start rebuilding it here where I believe mistakes are more readily corrected. Plus it would be far more accessible to people with the knowledge to question, correct and improve my tree.
I'd like to rid my tree of some of the wild guesswork I continue to find while relying on other peoples scholarship. I realize, of course, that just comes with the territory.
I'm not on a quest; I just want to leave a good solid basis for others who follow behind me.

I’m going to suggest that either the Virginia or the US Southern Colonies project might fit your current research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
