Joseph Ward was son of Elemuel (or Lemuel) Ward and Hannah Camfield

Private Joseph Ward, born 24 August 1734 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, died 1824 in Madisonville, Hamilton County, Ohio, married (1) Phebe X, born 1738, married 1760, died 1808, and married (2) Rachel Muchmore, is honored for service during the American Revolution: 1) CAPT ISRAEL WARD, EASTERN REGT, MORRIS CO MILITIA. Their son Israel Ward, born 1762, married Sarah Cook[1]


Joseph married about 1755 in Essex County, New Jersey to (1) Phebe Parkhurst. [2]


Joseph married 13 April 1805 (2) Rachel (perhaps Muchmore) Stites, widow. They were married by Abner Simond, M.G. [3]

Deed between Joseph Ward & Rachel Ward, his wife, "late the widow of Benjamin Stites, dec'd of Columbia Twp., Hamilton County, Ohio." For $70.00 the Wards quit claim their rights to "all those tracts or parcels of land together with the buildings thereon, now claimed by Matthias Kugler formerly the property of David Stites, late of Columbia, deceased. Signed, Joseph Ward, Rachel (X) Ward, who relinquishes her right of dower.
Witnesses: Smith Clason & John J. Ferris.

Joseph Ward and wife, Rachel, were among the organizing members of the Madisonville M. E. Church, Madisonville, Ohio.

Joseph Ward was buried in Hamilton County, Ohio.
