Biography

Peter Watkins (1733-1801) moved about 1753 from Watkins Ferry to the south of the ferry. He became a neighbor of Morgan Bryan, brother-in-law of Daniel Boone. Some have thought that his wife Hannah was a sister of Daniel Boone; however, that Hannah never married a Peter Watkins. Between 1753 and 1757, Peter sold his land to Morgan Bryan and moved to Spartanburg Co., SC. He eventually moved to Tryon Co., NC, to a section which later became part of Rutherford Co., NC.
