Biography

The only source for Susanna Heller's LNAB is a Daughters of the American Revolution application that names her as Susanna Weyland, a daughter of Gottfried Wieland. Recent research presented by J. Michael Yohe of Indiana proposes the argument that Susanna was, in fact, not a Weyland, but born a Yohe, daughter of Adam Yohe:

There is no primary source that names Susanna, wife of Jacob Heller, as Weyland. The SAR and DAR applications in the 1900s all list prior applications with no genealogically acceptable source. There is, however, a Susanna Yohe born 21 Jun 1757 that was baptized at Tohickon Reformed Church, Bucks County.^[1] The birth date on the headstone of Susanna Heller matches that birth date of Susanna Yohe. Although no marital record has been found between Jacob and Susanna, in Adam Yohe's will, written May 1785, he named Susanna Heller as one of his children.^[2] Another compelling reason to conclude Susanna was a Yohe is that the Baptismal Sponsors of Jacob and Susanna Heller's daughter, Susanna, are Adam and and Christina Yohe. Finally, land conveyances were made between Yohes and Jacob Heller, and Census records show them living next to one another in the late 1700s^[3]

Further research needs to be done before Susanna should be labeled either a Weyland or Yohe on her profile.
