Biography

Thomas Webber was born in Bideford, Devon, England, as was his wife, Mary Parker. According to information included in a deed whereby grandson Nathan Webber sells his share of an inheritance whose origins he relates, Thomas and Mary had five sons and one daughter at the time of their decease, This may be inaccurate since Nathan's father John, the eldest, did, in fact, predecease his parents, and I have not identified a sixth son. Other sons have been identified through the disposition of their shares of the same real estate, but number five in total. More work is needed here.

They purchased a large tract of land between Casco Bay and the Kennebec River from the Indians on 29 May 1660, and Mary's brother, John Parker, deeded some adjacent acreage to her as a gift on 3 Jun 1661. They later removed to Boston due to the Indian Wars. This was explained in the deed whereby his son Nathaniel sold his share to a group of men on 14 Mar 1715/6. In several pages following Nathaniel's deed, the rest of the property was sold to the same men by Nathaniel's brothers, nephew and niece.

Thomas intestate in 1687, and Mary died in 1715.

Research Notes

I found these deeds on the American Ancestors website. I think I'm not skilled at finding deeds in the Family Search website, so if anyone can provide those links, I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Was this the Thomas Weber who was listed as among the men at Merry Meeting in Kennebec in 1654? Records of the Plymouth County, Vol III, p 57-61.
