Seymour C. Webster, son of David and Nancy Webster,[1] was born on 19 Feb. 1819 at Grafton, Rensselaer Co., New York, USA.[2]
He married Dorcus C. Nichols, adopted daughter of Caleb Nichols and Elizabeth (Chase) Nichols, on 14 Oct. 1839 at Rensselaer County, New York, USA, recorded at Troy-Pittstown Society of Friends with date 6 Nov. 1839.[1]
He and Dorcus appeared on the census of 27 Aug. 1850 in the household of Caleb Nichols and Elizabeth (Chase) Nichols, at Hoosick, Rensselaer Co., New York.[3] He was a farmer when he and Dorcus appeared on the census of 2 Aug. 1860 in the household of Caleb Nichols and Elizabeth (Chase) Nichols at Hoosick, Rensselaer Co., New York.[4] He registered for the civil war draft in June 1863 at Hoosick, Rensselaer County, New York.[5]
He and Dorcus were seperated or divorced about 1867. Dorcus was disowned by the Troy-Pittstown Society of Friends at this time. It seems likely that there was a connection to their separation.[1]
He married Sarah (--?--) in Feb. 1870.[6]
He was a retired farmer when he and Sarah appeared on the census of 23 June 1870 at Hoosick, Rensselaer Co., New York.[6] He and Sarah appeared on the census of 14 June 1875 at Hoosick, Rensselaer County, New York. His mother was living with them.[7] He was a retired farmer when he and Sarah appeared on the census of 14 June 1880 at Hoosick, Rensselaer Co., New York.[8]
Seymour died on 27 May 1892 at Hoosick, Rensselaer Co., New York, at age 73 and was buried at Maple Grove Old Cemetery, Hoosick Falls, Rensselaer County, New York.[2] His memorial has the years of his birth and death and a note that the inscription is: "wife-Sarah M. Webster"[9]

The Democrat
Seymour C. Webster, one of the oldest residence [sic] of Hoosick, died at his residence on River street, Friday evening about nine o'clock. About seven years ago he had a shock of apoplexy, and some time ago revived. About 8 o'clock Mr. Harrison Webster dropped in to have a chat with his uncle, and while they were talking he sustained another shock and died immediately. Mr. Webster was born in Grafton, this county, Feb. 19th 1819, and came to this town of Hoosick about sixty years ago. He engaged in farming on the west hills and then moved into the village. He has always been known as an upright honorable man, a good neighbor and kind friend. He is survived by a wife who is a sister of M. V. B. Peters, and one daughter, Mary Haviland, who lives in Jonesville, Wisc., and another daughter Susie in Kansas. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the house, Rev. A. Chapman officiating.[2] ("copied exactly as appears in paper" by Wendy Baker-Lake). Thank you Wendy.
