William was born 1768 in Affpuddle, Dorset (son of Richard Wheeler & Ann Shephard). He married Lydia Moores in 1788 in Twillingate, and died Feb 1854.[1]. He was among the first European settlers in Twillingate, Newfoundland, and was a signatory on an early letter, petitioning for a clergyman there[2].
