Frances Wheeler married Benjamin Maddocks in Charles County of the British colony of Maryland, where they made their home and had twelve known children. Their two oldest children, Thomas John and Mary Anne married siblings, Frances Posey and Humphrey Posey. There was growing unrest in the colonies by the 1770s when both Benjamin Mattocks and his spouse, Frances Wheeler Mattocks, died. Several of their sons participated in the Revolutionary War. The spelling of the surname, Maddocks changed to Maddox with their descendants.
