John Wheeler is listed as father of Samuel Wheeler in marriage record for Samuel Wheeler. Mary Wheeler is mother of Samuel Wheeler. Later records indicate mother's maiden name Mary Stroup.
Samuel Wheeler was born 1854 in Pennsylvania. He had one sister, Mary Elizabeth Wheeler, born 1851, also in Pennsylvania.
The 1880 census lists Samuel Wheeler's father's birthplace as England. In the same census, his sister, Mary Elizabeth, also lists her father's birthplace as England. This would not be their stepfather, August Wambold, because he was born in Germany.
