Biography

Was third cousin of President John Adams. ^[1]

Tilley was born in 1736, in Lancaster, Massachusetts. He is the son of John White and Lois Wilder. ^[2]

He was the son of John4 (John3, Josiah2, John1) and Lois4 (Wilder) White; settled at Addison in 1767 [ADD 1790-1800]; served in Revolutionary War; purchased 100 acres of land at Epping from Moses Rolfe in 1780; in 1794 obtained settler's lot #12 at Addison for 30 shillings [Washington Co Deed 2:322] and sold part of it in 1801 to son William [Deed 4:13]; m (1st) at Harvard MA 15 Dec {int. at Lancaster MA 1 Oct} 1761 Katurah Somes, and had 2 children; Tilley m (2nd) c1766 Tamson Willey, and had 9 more children.
