Anna White was the daughter of William and Hannah Coltrane White. According to the 1850 census, she was born about 1818 in North Carolina, probably Randolph. In 1850 at age 16, she lived with her father and step-mother, Nancy.
In a letter to Ira B Coltrane dated July 25, 1878, Hillsville, Virginia from William C White:
William writes to Ira that he is going to start to Texas by the 1st of Sept and "Anna White is going with me." He said they were going to Collinsville, Grayson County, Texas. He further states "I am going to take my children out to my wife's people and I think I will go to Arizona next spring, if I have my health and try digging for gold."[2]Anna is his sister and they are the children of William and Hannah Coltrane White.
By 1880, "Annie White", age 61 lived in the household of Abe and Susan Clark in Van Buren Township, Newton, Arkansas. William B White and Mandy White, William's children were living with Annie and this family; their parents are not listed in the census.[3]
