Page 87 lists his parents, "William Whitfield 1764 - 8/8/1825 was born in Wayne County, North Carolina. He married in Duplin County in 1785 Mary Beck. Probably about this time he moved to Christian County, Kentucky and later to Steward County, Tennessee where he died. His widow moved to Fayette County, married and was living in Ewington, Effingham County, Illinois in 1844. Traditiona says they had 13 children but on the basiss of our records we have to be content with 10." Lists thier children.
