William Christenberry Whitley was born on December 25, 1851 in Stanly, North Carolina, United States, son of James Davidson Whitley (1830–1916) and Mary Nancy Burris (~1833– ).[1]

William married Keziah Elmira Morgan (born on July 22, 1846 in Stanly; daughter of Mark Morgan Sr and Nancy Morton). Their children were:

In 1900, William was living in Furr, Stanly, North Carolina. [2]

William died on January 9, 1932 in Stanly, aged 80.[1]
