Edward Williams was born in the first quarter (Jan-Feb-Mar) of 1844 in Canon Pyon, Herefordshire, England.^[1][2][3][4] He was baptized 3 March 1844 in Canon Pyon.^[5][6] The death certificate gives the name of his father, but the mother's name was not known by the informant (Frank Knoll, undertaker). ^[4] As a young man, Edward left home and worked as a cowherd. ^[7] He later earned his living as a shoemaker.

Edward was married to Clara Ream 4 July 1872 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.^[8] They had three (3) children:

• Olive (Williams) Mason (1875-?)
• Joseph Edward Williams (1876-1943)
• Rosalie Bertha (Williams) Haines (1880-1956)

Death

He passed away 29 July 1929 in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. ^[4]

Emigration

Edward emigrated to the United States when he was twenty-four years of age, arriving in the Port of New York, New York on 10 May 1869 aboard the S.S. City of London.^[9] He was naturalized and took the oath of citizenship in 1876.
