Biography

Jacob Lundy Willson (1810-1863) was born in New Jersey, the son of Abner Willson and Elizabeth Lundy. In 1831, he married his second cousin Bathsheba Pound Shotwell.^[1] In 1836, they moved from New Jersey to Wyandot, Ohio, where they raised their seven children.^[2]

According to Willson (p. 55), Jacob was born 9 Nov 1810, but his headstone appears to be inscribed 11 Sep 1810.

1. ↑ Jacob and Bathsheba are second cousins through their common great-grandmother, Ame (Hallet) Shotwell, whose daughter was Jacob's maternal grandmother, Sarah Lundy, and whose son was Bathsheba's paternal grandfather, Benjamin. They are also third cousins, through their mothers, both named Elizabeth Lundy, who are second cousins. According to Willson, "Both Jacob and Bathsheba are double descendants of John Bowne's 1st and 3rd marriages and of Governor John Winthrop's niece, Elizabeth Fones' second and third marriages" (Willson, 1959, p. 55).
