William Carroll Womack was born about 1835 in DeKalb, Tennessee, United States, son of William Womack (1812 - 1896) and Mary (Mullican) Womack (1812 - 1895).
William married Rebecca Dunham (1834 - >1880) on 13 Dec 1853 in De Kalb, Tennessee. [1]

In the 1850 census William (age 15) was in Warren, Tennessee, United States.[2] William Womack 38, Mary Womack 38, John M Womack 14, William Carroll Womack 15, Solomon Womack 13, Abner Womack 11, Ann Womack 9, Andrew J Womack 8, Elias Womack 6, Mary Womack 4, Susan Womack 2.
In the 1860 census William (age 25) was at 6th District, DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[3] Mahala Allen 60, Muckinson Blount 22, Elizabeth J Blount 16, William C Wamock 25, Rebecca Wamock 25, William D Wamock 3, Bethel H Wamock 1.
William died on 1 Mar 1863 in Tennessee aged ~27. He is buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee.[4]

Enlisted 9/22/62. Died 3/20/63 after being absent sick for a long time. Anson Womack filed settlement claim in Warren Co. Some information for him is misfiled in William C. Womack's file. A file there lists him as dying 3/1/63 and has as remarks: "See James A. Toney Ala. " Confederate Arch., Chap. 10, file No. 11, page 276." A W.C. Womack of the 16th is listed as buried at the Confederate Cemetery in Chattanooga.
