Biography

Williams Wright was born April 14, 1779, in Fauquier county, Virginia, a son of John Wright and Anne (Williams) Wright. William's father was too old to join the military ranks during the American Revolutionary War, but he is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for his Patriotic Service for furnishing supplies for the Continental Army and for his Civil Service, as he served as a Juror and an Assessor, in Surry County, North Carolina. Records held by the Society of the DAR show that he married Ann Williams. Application for membership in the Society have been filed by the descendants of William Wright, who married Sally Mitchell.[1]

Children of William Wright and Sally Mitchell include:

  1. Nancy Wright McCreary (1804)
  2. Eliza Wright
  3. Lucinda Wright (1815-1880), married Samuel M. Bourland, on January 21, 1830 in Calloway, Kentucky.
  4. Cynthia Wright
  5. Harriet Atwood Wright (1821-1883)
  6. Williams Wright
  7. Matilda Wright
  8. Sally Wright
  9. John Wright

He died in Madison County, Alabama on 19 July 1827. [citation needed] His estate was settled on 15 Feb 1831; the document lists his heirs.[2]
