Biography

Calvin was born in 1816. He was the son of Caleb Wright and Sarah Reed.^[1][2][3] He married Diantha (LeBourveau) Wright, daughter of John LeBourveau and Arathusa (Nurse) LeBourveau of Keene, on 10 May 1842.^[4]. They soon welcomed a daughter they named Emily Eliza, on March 4, 1843. Other children followed in succession: George Abbott, born in 1844 and died shortly before his fourth birthday, Harriet Emily, born in 1847, Jerome Edward in 1849, a daughter, Fanny Roxanna, so named to honor two of her young ancestors who had perished by drowning in the Ashuelot River in Keene in (see ^[5]), and Mary Lizzie, born in 1857^[4]

Calvin was a farmer, establishing a large family farm and orchard in Cheshire County

The family moved several times developing farms in several Cheshire County towns, finally settling in Gilsum in 1867^[6][7] where they continued farming. In the summer of 1877, in the late afternoon, a grand thunderstorm and tornado tore up through town, decimating his and his neighbor B H Britton's orchards. In fact, it tore almost all of the town's buildings on the south part of the town down to "kindling".^[8]

He passed away in 1907 and was buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Keene, New Hampshire.^[9]
