Valentine Weisang is listed in the American Revolution with the 7th Class of Associators of Heidelburg Township, York County Pennsylvania on 30 Jan 1781. [1] Note: no records found on fold3.
Valentine worked as a tavern keeper, farmer, miller (grist mill) and brick mason. [2]
He married Elizabeth Albright 1777 in York County, Pennsylvania. [1] Note: this document states her maiden name is not proven.
He paid poll taxes 1779,1781 in Heidelberg Township, York County, Pennsylvania. Note: name spelled Wisang in 178, Weisang in 1783,[1] 1783 Valentine Weisang was taxed on 1 lot, 1 house, 1 horse, 1 cow, 5 inhabitants, valued at 319 pounds, taxed at 2.0.0 pounds. [1] Valentine Weisang paid 2.0.0 in 1780 York County, Pennsylvania. [3]
29 Sep 1784 his father Lodvic Wysong's will was probated in York County, Pennsylvania. Also spelled Wisong in the same document. Will Book F, page 286. [4]
In 1786 Valentine Weissang is listed in Heidelberg Township, York County, Pennsylvania, United States. Only the head of house was listed. [5]
The family moved to Shepards town Virginia in 1787. [2]
Another move in 1788 found them in Botetourt County, Virginia where he built a blacksmith shop for his brother who was a blacksmith and wheelright. [2]
6 Jan 1794 Franklin County, Virginia, United States Valentine of Botetourt County, Virginia purchased 180 acres of land from Otey Prosser listed in Book 3, page 18.[6] He went on to purchase from John Clayborne, William Drake and Caleb Kitchen to total 319 acres by 1801. [6] "He started to sell his land in 1803 and by 3 separate transactions, by 1809 had disposed of 156 acres leaving 163 acres still owned in 1809. He paid taxes on this 163 acres until 1816." No records found of this land ever being sold. This land was all on Indian Run that empties into Gills Creek in Franklin County, Virginia, United States. [6] He built a grist mill on Indian Run known as Wysong's mill.
18 Apr 1803 Valentine & Elizabeth Wysong with Daniel and Mildred French sold a tract of 48 acres laying on both sides of the main road on the waters of gills creek. Sold to Valentine Oyler for 85 pounds current Virginia money. Franklin County, Virginia deed book 7, page 66. [7]
28 Sep 1809 Valentine Wysong and wife Elizabeth "Betsy" sold 9 1/2 acres of land on Big Branch, Virginia with a Mill built on it for 325 pounds. Deed book 5, page 642. [7]
In 1810 Vallintine Wysong was living in Franklin County, Virginia, United States. He is over 45 (before 1765). The others in the home are listed by age and sex only. Female over 45, Male 16-25, Male 10-15, Male 10-15, Male 10-15, Female 10-15. [8]
Sometime after 1810 He and his wife moved to Preble County, Ohio for a short while where their son Valentine was living, then on to Randolph County, Indiana where he established a brick kiln and built the courthouse at Winchester, Indiana. [9]
In 1817/1818 he moved to White River Township, Randolph County, Indiana. Where he built a log cabin. [2] He owned the Southwest conner of section 35, Township 20, Range 14 and the Southeast conner of section 32, Township 20, Range 14. This information stated on find a grave needs a source.
In 1820 Valentine Wysong was living in West River Township, Randolph County, Indiana, United States with his family. He was over 45 (before 1775). The others in the home are listed by age and sex only. Female over 45, Male 26-45, Male 16-26, Female under 10. [10]
Valentine Wysong died 24 Jun 1824 in White River Township, Randolph County, Indiana, United States. [11]
He is buried on a ridge behind his log cabin in West River Township, Randolph County, Indiana, United States. This is according to family stories, no stone. [11]
