I was at Rootstech this week, I stopped by the wikitree booth a couple of times.
The first time I had a nice conversation with a lady who shared her personal story and how she got involved with wikitree.
The second time a distant cousin of mine (whom I met at the conference) found me and took me to the wiki booth because some guy in a green hard hat had showed him something that wikitree was doing with regard to Ydna testing.
He was the worst possible ambassador wikitree could have had. I told him I was familiar with wikitree. He showed me how to get on wikitree. I told him I was interested in the new dna stuff. He used my profile's link to bring up Gedmatch. I told him I was familiar with Gedmatch. He used my Kit number (displayed on my profile) to display my dna matches. I informed him that I converse with many of those people often. And on and on. Many times he told my cousin that he could not count on me to buy the Ydna kit until I spent the money.
Eventually, I just walked off and bought my BigY-700 kit. My cousin joined me and apologized for taking me to the green hardhat guy.
I do not blame my cousin, but I do blame wikitree for choosing this person as their ambassador. I am done with wikitree.
