My great great grandmother was a Kitt, from Noble, Indiana. Supposedly Kitt was a spelling variation several generations back from that of Kidd, from Pennsylvania. Don't know if I should join in at this point. I have poor internet and not a lot of time.

I don't have any confirmation that it changed from Kidd, just hearsay. And not even family rumor. Internet family suggestions with no proof. Working on it, though.

my paternal grandfather was Wm H Kidd (Kidd-1689) b Apr 1869 Brunswick Co.Virginia.  Our most distant ancestor is Wm Kidd Jr  (Kidd-266) b  as proved by Reiley Kidd researcher.
