I missed your adding the Barnes tag to your profile. If I can be of assistance, please contact me. If you trace your roots to my Irish immigrant, Brinsley (Barnes-1145)or Solomon by all means let’s connect. I operate a website devoted to Brinsley and Solomon Sr. (Barnes-368) both of whom migrated to what became Wilkes County, NC in 1777. Solomon arrived in what was then Rowan County in about 1771. Brinsley arrived in Wilkes about 1784. At the time this was Indian Territory. Solomon’s roots are not known for sure. Some contend that he was English other say Irish. The website also discusses their descendants who migrated to Kentucky, Indiana and Missouri. Embark with me on an adventure to discover unknown fact about the Barnes’s, our Irish family who has been in America since 1734. Discover the stories about Brinsley our Ole Irish Immigrant, Deaf John, Handsome Jim, The Union sympathizing preacher Uncle Sol, or Jehu who was murdered by his brother. Meet these ancestors by clicking on the next link but read the rest of the message before doing https://competitivestrategies.us/barnes-ancestors-and-hist…/ Chose an adventure by clicking on one of the stories. A new story is announced every three or four month. The photo gallery contains pictures of our family. Browse around and learn about our annual reunion or ask a question on the forum. To be notified every time a new adventure is added to our website, fill out the form at https://competitivestrategies.us/barnes-family/. We have a Barnes DNA project going on.

Thanks for clearing up the Civil War service records on GW Cooper. I may check out the book your recommended--however, those Missouri units, both US and CS, had a complicated history. I have been interested Black Bob McCulloch's 2nd Missouri Cavalry CS who fought in many battles in Mississippi and Tennessee.

I see that you have taken the Y-DNA test. Would you be interested in starting a One Name Study for your surname? The purpose of the One Name Study is to coordinate any WikiTreers who are researching one particular surname and to provide a resource for collaboration.

For instructions on how to get started and suggestions for getting the most out of your study, see: One Name Study

For more information, contact Doug or Alison with any questions.

Welcome to the DNA Project: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:DNA

To make DNA connections with your cousins, WikiTree needs to see your FamilyTree. You should use the pale yellow Privacy setting on any profiles in your DNA family line so that WikiTree can see the Family Tree tab. (Please set all living children to the Unlisted privacy level.)

As you add your family lines and connect to the big WikiTree, you may find you are related to people you never expected. Use the Relationship calculator to see if you are related to me, Cooper-1 with http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Relationship

Please let me know if you need any assistance.

Hi,

Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.

How To Use WikiTree is a good place to start. It is a step-by-step-guide to WikiTree basics. Our G2G Forum is searchable or you can post a question there. The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.

It is very important that no duplicate profiles are created in WikiTree. Please read this page for clues on avoiding profile duplication.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Hi! I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Our process here is a little different than what you might find on other sites because of our goal of growing one worldwide tree with a single profile for each individual. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our Before You Import a GEDCOM help page. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
Not a problem at all. Welcome to Wikitree! First day and already 35 contributions! Let me know if I can help in any way. I am one of the Mentors. As a matter of fact, since you volunteered today, you will be getting a message from me tomorrow. What a coincidence!

Would you please take another look at the Baylis-3 and Baylis-6 merge you proposed. They are not the same person. Maybe you meant to list another number. Let me know if I can help.

Thank you, for volunteering to help grow our worldwide family tree. We very much appreciate experienced researchers joining our community.

Our Honor Code, G2G message forum, help pages, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.

VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.

Thank you for helping in our mission to build a global tree with only one profile per person.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree!
