Thanks for your note, Donna. I think that getting y your more recent generations well sourced is an excellent plan. It has a two fold benefit in that you can be sure of the connections when you get back to those earlier generations and you've already developed good habits in sourcing.

As far as the online databases, I find that they are really useful for finding free records. The records often have indexing errors but the images are attached. We can do our own analysis and transcriptions, recording it here at WikiTree with the citations back to the free images. You can see an example of my process on Otis Lemuel Holton's profile.

  • grin* I do my crochet while watching online educational webinars. Would that work for your quilting? I can send you links *grin*

Hi Donna,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, such as the US Southern Colonies Project. Review the project pages to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)
