Timothy was born in Colorado in the 1960s. He lived in many places as a child. He had three years of high school in New Hampshire and graduated in Arizona. In 1986 he received a B.A. in History from Concordia University Nebraska (then called "Concordia Teachers College"). He graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis with the M. Div. degree in 1991. While at the seminary he also took three months of intensive language training in Spanish in Mexico. He is a Lutheran Pastor in southern Wisconsin.
Timothy's work on a family tree began in the early 1980s as a class assignment. He has become more active with the family tree and genealogy in the last 15 years. In connection with genealogy he discovered the use of DNA for genealogical purposes and became actively involved with that (see the DNA section below). Timothy's paternal grandfather, Edward Moore May (1895-1975), was active in genealogy before the time of the personal computer and wrote the following genealogical works: "The Griffiths of Plymouth, Massachusetts" (1970) and "The Spahr Family of Virginia" (1971). Timothy's uncle on his mother's paternal side explored the genealogy.of the Haase Family and related families. His mother's maternal ancestry, the Peterman(n) Family and other families, has also been researched.
Timothy's ancestors came to America during these time periods:
1600s - paternal grandmother's ancestry from England or Wales
1860s - maternal grandfather and grandmother's ancestry from Germany
1880s - paternal grandfather's ancestry from Ireland

Thank you, Timothy, for participating with the Irish Seanchaithe during the Connect-a-Thon!
Thanks for helping with Wikitree
Timothy
It is once again time for our annual Ireland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:
You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you no longer are able to participate in the Ireland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.
Many thanks for all that so many of you have contributed to the project in the past year, and very special thanks to those who answered the project’s call and gave generously of their time to be part of Team Seanchaithe during the most recent connect-a-thon. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
le dea-mhéin, Jen Hutton, Ireland Project co-leader
Thanks for your efforts with the Irish Seanchaithe during the July 2023 Connect-a-Thon, Tim. We appreciate all your efforts!
Thank you for all your profile-creating in the April 2023 Connect-a-Thon, Tim. The Irish Seanchaithe appreciate all your efforts!
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
Pippin Sheppard ~ WikiTree Pre-1700 Greeter
When you have your part of our One Big Tree fleshed out and you are ready to supplement it with DNA test matches, please check out the DNA Help category page to see all the DNA help that is available, and the How to Get Started page in particular.
When you are ready to start documenting that your genealogy sources are confirmed by DNA test matches, be sure to follow the guidance at the DNA Confirmation help page. A profile should not be marked "confirmed with DNA" without source documentation for both genealogy and DNA test matching. Also, try out the DNA Confirmation Citation Maker app, it can simplify the job of creating and/or validating source citatations for DNA confirmation.
If you have questions or need assistance, feel free to ask on the G2G Forum using the Tag "DNA" and/or "DNA_Confirmation".

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

As a guest, you cannot add DNA or create profiles at that level. See Membership for information. You could also do a Help Search and put DNA in the box to get the help info for various DNA topics, which might answer some questions.
Take care, Sheryl
Thank you. I notice that it requires adding sex at birth information to my profile prior to adding the Y-DNA information. It works now. Thanks for the link to Membership information. I will read that.
Tim
I am glad that helped and you are now an Honor Code signatory so you have full membership. Please feel free to email me if you need anything. Take care, Sheryl
If you have any questions about WikiTree, please click the option to reply to this message and let me know how I can help.

I am trying to add my Y-DNA information and it won't save. There is a message that says something like Y-DNA is male only. I know this and since I am male and have tested my Y-DNA I hope to add the information. Can you help?
Thank you, Tim
