Hello Brenda,

Thanks for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the United States Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources). This is an essential part of working with pre-1700 profiles.

Brenda,

As I stated before on March 1st, WikiTree is a global family tree. This means a tree that intersects with all intertwining families. The work you do here may well be on the people you know to be related to you, but there are others who are related to those same people and their family members are intertwined with yours. None of us own the family members we place here, we share them with the global family tree. This is not just your family tree, but it is the collective our family tree.

If you have more questions, please ask and I will attempt to provide the answers you need.

Many thanks, Cindy

Hello Brenda,

Please respond to this message so we can discuss the issues you are looking to resolve. I am sorry, but I do not remember what we discussed and what we did not discuss. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks, Cindy  :-)

Brenda,

WikiTree is a global family tree and there will be other people who have put your ancestors on WikiTree before you, so that is why people are automatically on your tree. WikiTree is not a collection of individual family trees, but a true global family tree and that is the mission to connect all people in that one family tree.

Thanks, Cindy

Hello Brenda!

You've been a member for a few weeks so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Brenda,

A warm welcome to WikiTree. You are now a full member and can add your family to the big tree!

Click here to start with our New Member How To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor. Genealogy to me is like being a detective looking for clues into the past.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!
