Sir John Urquhart of Craigston and Cromarty Sheriff of Cromarty, next in line to inherit the Cromarty estate as the gr. grandson of Walter's only surviving brother John. He married Lady Barbara Mackenzie daughter of George, 2nd Earl of Seaforth.

William Urquhart of Meldrum 4th Laird of Meldrum, last Sheriff of Cromarty (ended 1747), married to Mary Forbes as his first spouse, also succeeded to the Chiefship in 1741 on the death of Colonel James Urquhart.
James Braco Urquhart married Herries Forbes, died without issue and the Chiefship devolved to his cousin.

Kenneth Trist Urquhart of Urquhart, 10th of Braelangwell 27th Chief of Clan Urquhart, succeeded his father in 1974 and succeeded by his son, Wilkins, in 2012.
Research Notes
- The internet varies in the numbering of the chief's. Wikiwand gives the famous Sir Thomas as 12th Chief. Burke's and Clan Macfarlane gives Francis as number 24. The later Wilkins varies between 25th and 26th. Either way, the numbering is out of count.Urquhart-93 20:38, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
