As a person that does not know much about Scandinavian or Old Norse Names, I found these 2 YouTube videos very informative.

I Noticed that the old norse names; norse meaning "Nordic'  come from present Scandanavia, where many of our ancient viking ancestors lived in what is now Norway, Iceland, Sweden, and Denmark. Pretty far in north western Europe. Alot of the old names have roots from this viking age from sagas and mythology. ( stories passed down)  Like the legendary Ragnar Lothbrok and his wife Aslaug.  Most old norse names took their father's first name and added 'sson' at end for male last names and 'dotter, datter, or dottir' after their father's first name added at end, depending on what parts they were from spellings varied. Recently I found through DNA that I have some ancient scandanavian roots which came to a surprise. No currant known ancestors from Scandanavia so was quite interesting.

I have a ton of the sons, dotters, datters, dobbis etc in my tree as well as Ragnar and family. That is a hard line to do because of the name changes that they do. It’s no surprise to have the father have one name and the son to have something totally different.
