To embellish on the above, Banks cites Caulkins "History of New London, CT" p. 265. Pages 69/70 are probably more revealing, citing one Thomas Jones accompanying Richard Blinman (minister? of Chepstowe, Monmouthshire, England), along w/ perhaps 20 families, to New London from Gloucester, Cape Ann, Mass. Bay in 1650/51. Jones' stay was short as was Philip Taber's of "Martin's Vineyard." This ties in w/ Banks' finding that a number Martha's Vineyard's early settlers were from the Essex area of Mass. Bay Colony. Banks state Jones was a weaver and his widow was named Ann. Thank you.
