Best way forward with a dodgy profile? [closed]

This particular profile was added through a GEDCOM import several years ago by a distant relative of my wife's.

I can't find any supporting evidence for Helen Sharpe as a wife of Bryce Martin - in fact, that is his mother's name and there is already a profile for her.  I suspect it was an error. His wife was Agnes (Annie) Stevenson, who doesn't have a profile yet.

So my question is - should I "recyle" this profile and turn it into Agnes Stevenson? Or delete the marriage relationship & merge it with his mother's profile?

Hi Mark, on wikitree we try not to delete profiles.. so in this situation, by looking at the profiles and the parents, my assumption would be that the person, loaded a gedcom, then accidently attached Helen to the wrong spouse, In this sort of situation, i believe the best thing to do, is disconnect Helen from the current spouse, Then make create a match/merge to the other Helen Sharpe and merge this profile into that one. Because the 2 have the same last names and one id devoid of sources, this should make if easy.  just make use to adjust the questionable Helen Sharpe b-date & d/date to match the other accurate Helen Sharpe (mother profile).  after this you should be good to go -with the match merge of the 2 Helen Sharpe profiles, &  after this- to add/ create Agnes Annie Stevenson profile

I concur with Arora's advice. Like the help page on Recycling IDs says, recycling a WikiTree ID is almost never appropriate.

Personally, I would recycle it.

Then you would end up with Sharpe-620 having a completely different LNAB. Disconnect, merge and create new one should be cleaner.
