Can we rely on the (is it the Oxford?) Dictionary of National Biography as good evidence of birth, marriage and death dates?

The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, which has mostly superseded the earlier Dictionary of National Biography, is overall a good secondary source, with the articles written by experts in their field, and birth, marriage and death dates are generally correct.

However like any secondary source of that scope it can have mistakes, or more recent research might propose a different date.  It is also a little frustrating because it has a list of sources, rather than any inline citations, which makes it difficult to find exactly which source supports which fact or date.
