Why don't middle names appear on an ancestor's profile page?

I'm not sure what you mean. Middle names do appear on the profile page. For private profiles you'll only see the middle initial if you're in public view, but otherwise you should see the full name.

Could you give an example?

When creating a new profile for an ancestor, I entered the middle name in the Middle Name field. When viewing their page, the first and last name are in large letters at the top but not the middle name.

e.g. My ancestor:

First name: Robert
Middle: Marmaduke
Last: Baker

At the top of his page it says Robert Baker, but in the section below with all his details it says Robert Marmaduke Baker.

If I enter the first and middle name in the First Name field for a new person, then the middle name shows in large letters at the top. I have just tried editing Robert Marmaduke Baker's page so Marmaduke is in large letters at the top but it did not change.

Since I have a lot of Robert and James Bakers in my tree, I want to separate them by having their middle name show. Also when the system comes back with possible matches it is much easier to look for matches if the middle name is included.

If you want to see the middle name everywhere, you could just put it as part of the first name and leave the middle name blank.
