New member introducing myself

Hi, I'm a new member tracing both of my parents'  lines. My mother was Myrtle Bell Corder tracing back to Edward Corder, Sr.

My father was Arthur Rosario "Pete" Hugh's and I've hit a brick wall with his grandfather, Thomas Hughs. Part of the problem seems to be half of the family spelled their surname as Hughes, the other half correctly without the 'e'.

Thanks!

One thing you can do is use the search function to search for your family. If you search by surname alone, you will get a page like this:

https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Corder

You can also use the wild card in the first name field to search for anyone with that surname then narrow your results by date or location. Give that a try!

Edited to add: the wild card is an asterisk *

It looks like you are talking about Thomas Hughs, who was born in April 27, 1777, in South Carolina, and died on October 9, 1855, in Koscuisko County, Indiana and who married Margaret Byford (1797-1885).

Is that the right person and are you looking for his parents?

It can be hard to trace people back to South Carolina in that period.
