Fortunately Ellis did leave a trail, his will and two of his children's births were in Watertown VR. It's just that there was no Daniel in any record found so far, at least that I've seen. Adding to this comment: since we don't know Ellis' origins, it is possible that he had a child Daniel who died young, but in order to find that we would need to find Ellis' origins which would be great.

Unfortunately that familysearch profile has no sources either just "NFS legacy trees" which is user-submitted "stuff", not reliable at all. His supposed father on familysearch is the same way, out of the 29 "sources" attached to him, about 27 of them are useless auto-aggregated like IGI or unsourced user submissions from places like findagrave. From what I can see, still no proof that he actually existed.

In the history of Woburn the name is Elias not Ellis.
To clarify this post, I severed Daniel from Ellis Barron and his wife Grace since there is no proof of Daniel's existence.

The spelling of Ellis' first name wasn't really in question, it's one of those that is spelled multiple ways in multiple documents including "Eliz" and "Elliz" in vital records births of his children.  I haven't tried cleaning up Ellis' bio and sourcing although it certainly needs that.  His probate index is written as "Elizias", splitting the difference I guess https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-89DL-DC5Y?i=255&cat=263304
But there is a Daniel Barron as evidenced by the documents, he may or may not be attached to Elias and Grace but he does exist.

I have very seldom seen old names in old documents changing from Elias to Ellis (Ellis is a new name, not usual for the time period).  Just wondering if Daniel exists who does he belong to, what other Barron's are in the area at the time?  Ah well all interesting.
That's good to know Lynn, if you have some primary documents showing Daniel existed it would be great if you can put those on his profile and clear out the uncertain existence category.

Re: Ellis' name, I haven't looked for something he signed in his own hand like a will.  As you know, spelling was a lot more flexy back then so seeing somebody's name spelled different ways in different documents is pretty normal.  WikiTree standards are normally to use the one in the first ocurring document like a christening but I'm not even sure what that would be for Ellis/Elliz/Elias/Elizias.  I've been working on a George recenty who so far is Hudson, Hodgson, Hodchon and Hutchins depending on which document you read.  The joys of spelling...
