Hi I am seeking assistance to find information on John Wilson born Texas or Oregon USA 1883

Question

I have hit a brick wall on my father's father.

John Wilson said he was born in 1883 in Oregon, however the Australian citizenship papers, submitted in 1940, said he was born in Dallas Texas. John came to Australia in about 1910.

John appeared to speak Italian reasonably fluently to the Banana pickers in NSW.

He never mentioned his family to any of his kids.

We have no leads as to his background or family in the USA

Dear Gordon,

    I am not familiar with Australian records, but in the USA marriage and death records often include the names of the parents of the bride and groom.  Have you been able to find these records?  In which country was John married?  FamilySearch.org has many digitized records available for free, so take a look there for a marriage record.
