Trying to find more information on Uriah Davis (Davis 17922).  I found a lead on a Scottish page for old parish records but I have to pay some fees and I don't have the $ right now. :/

Hi Lisa... Welcome to WikiTree.

I'm sorry somebody wants $ from you.  Even if I were rich I would not pay them.  Hang in there and we'll see what we can find out about Uriah.
Hi Lisa, remember me?  Dennis Davis.  I'm still looking for the parents of Uriah as well, along with many other cousins who share this line.  I have spent quite a few years looking with no success yet.  But, don't give up.  The information is out there somewhere.  It may be with the courts in England where he was sentenced to become an indentured servant in the colonies, or in Wales.  Keep in touch! :)
I'm also trying to find the parents of Uriah Davis (1707-1768). Have you had any luck since your last post? Please let me know. Thanks so much!
Hi, Alicia Connell,

Sorry to report I've not had any luck finding the parents of Uriah Davis.  Everything comes to a dead end.  I'll keep trying, though.  When I find anything I'll post it to my tree.  If you find anything, please let me know.  By the way, my Grandmother, Flora Gentzsch (Wife of Robert Davis) always claimed that we were related to Morgan David (Davis) through an earlier marriage than is shown in the records.  I'm working on that angle.  Keep in touch!
I Google also and often get results.  But no luck so far on Uriah Davis.
I haven't been active in my search lately.  Took on a 2nd job and only have 1 day off a week now.  I had read on someone's page a year or so ago that they had traveled to basically retrace their roots and they hadn't found anything even being there in person.  On my Italian grandmother's side of the family I ran into dead ends with her parents pretty much.  I was able to dig up the father's father's names by the last names and the region of Italy but the difficult part in that region is that it wasn't always Italy.... Borders change over the years!  War etc.....

The best luck you would have I am guessing is to find old church or parish records of birth.  But I found the area in which he was "from" and it was very... and still is... very rural so I would guess you would still be able to find records there.
Thank you, Lisa.  I'll keep plugging away.  I'll definitely let you know when I have a break through.
edited, profile already has mention of Uriah Heap  still in Herefordshire in 1743.
Could this be the one you are searching for?

I found him while researching my husband's Davis lineage

Uriah Davis

Born 1710 Middle Caicos, Turks, Caicos Islands

Died 1768 Baltimore, Baltimore City Maryland

Memorial ID 183044203
This Uriah Davis is the one I have, except he was born in Middlesex, England, (or perhaps in Herefordshire) not Middle Caicos, Turks, Caicos Islands.  The years for birth and death are correct.
Hello,

I have found some information but needed to ask if Uriah died in the United States.  I have a birth of 1707 in Escley, Hertfordshire, England.  I don't want to give you incorrect information so I like to ask ahead of time

Regards,

donna
Thank you so much for the info.  I have been trying for decades to find the parents of Uriah, with no luck.  My paternal Grandmother Davis told me we were related to Morgan David (Dafydd) from Wales, but I have not been able to make the connection.
Uriah died in 1768 in Baltimore, MD.  Your date of birth (1707) is what I have.
Sorry everyone. I have not been as active on here as I would have liked. (busy with life/ work stuff... lol)  I just saw these recent posts pop into my e-mail.  I am fairly sure I found some of this out on my Ancestry page but I stopped paying for it for now.  All of my data/links is saved but as far as photos of records like some census and parish / baptisms etc are blocked for now until I re-activate my account.  I will take a look and see what I figured out on there.  It's been so long since I logged on to any of my accounts.

So here is a link to Uriah in my Ancestry tree.... Not sure if it will work for you guys or not.  I do not know enough about this to upload my screen shots.  Basically I found another couple profiles with similar information.  I HAVE NOT been able to verify it.  If you want to take a look you can.  If this link does not work please let me know and we can figure something out.

Thank you, Lisa!  I'm not active on Ancestry, now.  I was on Ancestry for several years, but became a bit pricey.
