Where's William?

William seems to be hiding in 1841, 1851, and 1861.

Do you know where he can be found?

1851 it appears he was a coal miner, living with wife and son in the Earsdon sub-district of the Tynemouth district.  Wife was Margaret, son was Thomas.  Margaret was born in Lowther, Scotland, about 1789.  William's age is off by a number of years, giving a year of birth of "about 1802".  Last name was rendered as Weallans, which someone thinks should have been Wealand.

1841 William, wife Margaret, daughter Margaret were in the hundred Castle (East Division), Northumberland.  The last name was rendered as Wealand, and his occupation was Quarryman.

I'm fairly sure his was the death registered 4th Quarter 1871.

Ok, I cannot find 1861.

It seems wife Margaret may have died in 1865.

In that 1841 census, I missed the rest of the family because I took a / / to mean the end of one family, beginning of the next.  It wasn't.  So, in addition to Margaret (16) and Thomas (9) - already noted - there were John (13), and William (11).  Margaret the elder was noted as 50, while William the elder was noted as 45.  (It needs to be remembered that ages for those 15 years and older were supposed to be rounded down to the next 5, but the census takers often had their own way of interpreting that because I have seen someone aged 14 years rounded to 10, and someone aged 13 years rounded to 5.)
