My mother's g grandparents, John Garden Trenerry and Alice Vining Stock, were sent to Australia in 1890 by their wealthy relatives for the shame of having become actors. Alice's father was a prominent Bristol Surgeon with noble and Plantagenet ancestry. John's father was a Solicitor and theatre owner. But these two, possibly because of debts, went into acting and so were disowned. They brought their whole brood to Australia (Brisbane) and the entire family continued to act, although my g grandfather wanted to turn his back on his parents. He became an import-exporter, but could not predict that his daughter wanted to become a dancer. That reportedly broke up his marriage, when he found his wife had supported the daughter (although the secretary he was going out with probably helped). Nevertheless, the entertainment bug has continued down the family: we have a celebrated conductor, a ballerina, and a TV chef amongst the descendants. On my side, my mum and two aunts were singers during and after WW2, my brother was in rock bands, and I have been a singer, a puppeteer and an amateur actor.
