The collector's mini-challenge dovetails with another project I've been wanting to undertake, so I'll look forward to participating in that to work on categorizing profiles at one cemetery.

Greetings!   One challenge that I have personally been facing is to add a Wikitree Category for every cemetery located in my home county of Polk County, Texas.   The Texas Historical Commission lists over 120 cemeteries in Polk County.   Wikitree presently has categorized about 70 of them.   Pick your home county for wherever you live and see if all the known cemeteries have been categorized.   Of course this means posting at least one profile for each cemetery.   I have found many surprise connections scattered among the Polk County Cemeteries.   I will keep in touch!

I added a category for a cemetery in Clinton, East Feliciano Parish, Louisiana.

Now, what top-level cemetery category page should I point this page to?

Overcome-by-events. Someone went in and edited the Category page for the cemetery. Do I need to put cemeteries in this format in the future?

Is there a set process to request a cemetery to be added?

If I am working on profiles and can't find the one, who do I contact? I am not adept enough to set them up so would like a place/person/G2G post I can say 'Wikitree-ID #' has burial info but I can't find the category.....does such a place/person exist?

When I add or connect a person I always check the cemetery info. Check from source info and request infomation as needed.

I have a question about the Cemetery Challenges. A lot of them are about adding things (photos, categories) to existing profiles; do you still get a point if you create a new profile for those?

I ask because I have hundreds of tombstone photos from back when I photographed cemeteries way faster than I could add them lol! So usually I create a profile, upload the photo, and add the cemetery category all at the same time. And then also research them more, which sometimes leads to connecting them. Every now and then I come across one that already has a profile, but those are few and far between.

Hi Lianne, the Transcriber's Challenge is for new profiles being created. The other challenges are to clean up profiles that already exist.

We didn't have a Transcriber's Challenge setup yet for this year, so I just added one for Feb 1st-14th.

Cool! Thanks, Steven. I'll definitely join in for that one!
