Was his oldest brother also his father?

I don't know if this was a Find-A-Grave error or not, but anyone that wants to know can adopt the profile and look for other sources.

The census records attached to his FamilySearch profile seem to strongly suggest his father is Ambrose Davis (1818-1891), which would make a lot more sense. So yes, I think someone connected the wrong Ambrose as father on FindAGrave.

Yes, it's pretty common that people link the wrong memorials together. e.g. I recently found a "marriage" on find-a-grave between two siblings who died in early childhood but were buried together. Luckily the memorial manager accepted my edits very quickly.
