This census (1850) for Fabius, Onondaga, NY, USA shows a male 6 year old living as a son of a John W. Mills and a Patty Mills:

Looks like he was born in Massachusetts and was 29 at the time of the census.

Search Census records on Familysearch.org for Almon Mills in New York: there are many hits: including showing a spouse names Effie.

Good luck.

The 1930 census is quite interesting: showing he was living as the father in law: and with a sister in the house as well: implies a daughter's name of Maude Mills
