Under “Immigrant Ships” is a category for Immigrant ships to America and then another category for Immigrant ships to United States. Should these not be merged?

It's my opinion they should not be merged because:

Immigrant ships to America = before 1776

Immigrants to the United States = after 1776.

Hope it helps!

That might be a good reason for not merging.

I don't know who handles the Immigrant Ship categories, but if this is the official reasoning, it needs to be described in the categories, and there needs to be official dates, and a next/previous relationship set. Probably this needs an infobox?

Immigrant ships to America should probably be renamed to something like Immigrant ships to English colonies, pre-1776, as that is all that is found as sub-categories (America is a big place, not just comprised of modern USA).  Immigrant ships to USA is not the same, so no merging.

"English Colonies, Pre-1776" isn't sufficient to identify the Thirteen English or British Colonies in North America (also known as the Thirteen American Colonies), cf. English overseas possessions.

that's fine by me, it was just a suggestion as to what it should be changed to, not cast in concrete.
