How do I get added as a trusted connection to Joseph Hagar (Hagar-33) as he is my direct ancestor.

I don't want to duplicate records and I need to attach to Joseph Hagar (Hagar-33) as I am a direct descendant and am adding my tree.

Remember Rae, we only want one profile per person, so if 'your' tree includes someone with a profile on wikitree, you don't add that person.  You only add the profiles for people that are not on wikitree.

That is an orphaned profile. You can adopt it, although you may need to upgrade your membership first.

George, unfortunately this is not correct. As well as upgrading membership by signing the Honor Code, Rae needs to make 100 contributions before being able to adopt orphaned profiles: see this Help page.

However Rae the news is not all bad. After you have signed the Honor Code, you will be able to attach to the profile even though you can't yet adopt it.
