I need to find out what happened to Presley Stowers (Stours) In Arkansas just before the Civil War

Presley Stowers (Stours) was born in KY in 1822. He was married to Elizabeth Roberts in 1842 around Indianapolis, Indiana. They moved to Sebastion County Arkansas in about 1855. Presley was not on the 1860 census with the family and he supposedly died in 1862. Does anybody know what happened to him. I can't find him on any Civil War lists. Thanks!
