Catherine Livingstone m John McNab in 1864 in the St John's Anglican Church in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.  They moved to the US & had two children; Duncan McNab b.1866 & Margaret b. 1868.who are both shown as born in US on census.   Have looked for about 10 years for traces of this family across the line with no luck.  Can anyoe find them for me?  I think I tried Iowa & Ohio but usure now.

This sounds like them, but quite a few McNabbs around.  Was sure he spelled his name with McNab.  McNab-McNabb are both Scottish names.  Believe Catherine & John moved to the US in 1864 or right after their marriage.  Would there not be a census showing them?  Cannot put this down as can't be sure they are the correct McNabs.

Note:  After John died, Cstheriine returned to Winnipeg with her two children & m. Owen L Coombs, my G Uncle.  Thank you for your interest.

Not sure this is the correct one either.  Both children came back to Canada before 1873 when their mother married Owen L Coombs.  Am sure at one time had the marriage certificate to John but have either mislaid it or lost it.  Ducan was born  1866 & Margaret in 1868 in the US.  Am wondering if they aren't on a US Census for 1871 or ?

Not knowing when they left Canada for the US is a real difficulty  John McNab was b about 1842 in Manitoba.  If he died before 1871, doubt they'd be on  US Census unless Ctatherine stayed in the US until after that date.  John & Catherine were M in 1864 in Winnipeg.  That means they left for the US in either 1864 or 1865.

Are you sure they left because this Margaret McNabb was born in Manitoba?

This is the correct Ducan McNab & you will see the name is spelled the same.  This does not tell what heppened to John McNab his father or where he died?  That is my main quewtion - wherei in the US did they go to, where were Duncan & Margaret born?

For now have just US but they must have been born somewhere down there.  Difficulty with names as they are McNab & not McNabb's.  Duhcan & Margaret are twoof the most common names in Scotch chiodren in the time.

Wrong man.
Duncan went back to Manitoba and this could be his son?
Possibly but it is not certain.;  If you will note had their Mother Catherine marrying a second time to Owen Coombs in 1873 so it is natural the childre are this household.  Had this before but am still looking for death place of John McNab the falther & birthplace of Duncan 1866 & Margaret 1868.

Wrong person
Since Margaret ended up in Manitoba she could have married and this could be her

daughter Mary, this appears to be the right ages.
There were many McNabb's in Canada.  Doubt this is correct as sure her daughter would not have the name of McNab.

Her mother Catherine Livingstone was born in Canada (Manitoba) to her parents who came over on a boat to Churchill in the early 1800's as first setters to Manitoba.  Will go and try to find that list for all here.
Her daughter is not listed as a McNabb but as Nichol, mother Marjorie McNabb her husband John Nichol.

Her mother was born in 1868 and she could have easily have a daughter born

in 1891 in Manitoba.

I live in Canada and I to have a Catherine Livingstone on my tree not related to yours.

The one second ABOVE  is my Uncle Owen L Coombs household & Catherine is defiitely living with him as they were married in 1873.  She brought her two children back to Canada with her.

Still looking for death place of John McNab between 1868 and 1872 (about).  His name seems to be spelled McNab tho many people spell it McNabb.

Want to thank everyone for trying to help me with this very old problem.  Thank you all.
Am getting confused as to whom I am replying but this is in answer to the person who has aother Catheriine Livingstone,  Her parents came to Manitoba via Port of Churchill with others in 1812 & apparently her parents had her. in 1840's. (birth)   She was married to McNab in 1864 and they leftf for the US

Catherine retuned to Manitoba when her husband died pobably because her family still lived here.  She met & married my G Uncle Owen Coombs in 1873.

No idea if this McNabb is the same person, but they seemed to spell their name as McNab.

Thanks so much for looking, but know he died in the US. where both children were born.  Catherine's parents came from the Highlands of Scotland (Lord Selkirk Manitoba Settlers) & either McNab's parents are from there or else he came to work in the fur trade??

Unfortunately know nothing about him except he died in US & have his marriage date to Catherine Livingstone.

Maybe he did go down there to fight in the war between south & north.  Unsure but if he died in February, 1867, not too sure his wife Catherine would have had a daughter 1868 tho it is possible,  Suppose he could have died late in February & she produced Margaret in early January?  HMMM.....

Thank you for taking the time.  This possibility giives some new meaing to this question.  Wondering if you could look up who this chap's survivors are??

Also wanted to mention that there is still a McNab living in Laverandre or St Anne's, Manitoba who may be related.  Maybe I should try to contact them?
