A few quick notes. First, here is the MyHeritage blog post from October 1 explaining a bit about the testing, the offer, and including a direct link to start the process.
Second, if you already have a MyHeritage account and have taken one of their tests or have already uploaded data from another test, you will want to use the account you already have. Go to MyHeritage and log-in. After that, just click on DNA > Upload DNA data and follow the steps presented. You can have multiple DNA tests associated with one MyHeritage account, and will then manage them all in one place. You'll still get the free "unlock" offer through October 8 for the new test data that you upload.
Third, for of you who have done whole genome sequencing and perhaps prepped a "superkit" with a utility like WGS Extract (which produces a data file combining around 2.1 million SNPs from the formats of different versions of our inexpensive microarray tests; these can be used at GEDmatch, for example), MyHeritage will accept that kit as an upload (be sure to upload the ZIPped compressed file of the combined kit).
However, though you'll get a success message and a kit number for the upload, what you'll also get is this message:
DNA kit ****** was uploaded successfully and assigned to you.
The file you have uploaded is in a format that we do not currently support. We are working to add support for this file type soon and will notify you by email once your results are ready.
Given that these types of aggregate data files have been in use for about five years now, I can't imagine that it's likely MyHeritage is actively working on adding them for matching and reporting purposes. Which is a shame because having them would likely improve the accuracy of MyHeritage's "stitching" imputation and the evaluation of small segments.
