Fine clockmakers, born in Swiss Emmental village of Langnau, Switzerland. Studied clockmaking with Jean Francois Guillerat of Delemont in Swiss Jura. By 1754 brothers moved to Lancaster PA. Swiss parents of these 2 brothers: Daniel Fuhrer (1684-1747), an early medical doctor in the Swiss Emmental and wife, Anna Engel (1700-1740). Her brother, Ulrich Engel (1711-1757) and wife, Anna Brachbuhl (1715-ca. 1764), were 1754 immigrants of the big Engel family currently connected to Messiah University, near Harrisburg PA. Direct descendans of these 2 Swiss brothers. We know of a 1556 Froschauer Bible printed in Switzerland with the Forrer surname inside the cover…. and by e-mail will ve glad to give details.
