Where did Elizabeth get to?

Elizabeth Margaret Wyllie was baptised in Glasgow in 1846, parents Archibald Mcnab Wylie and Sarah Baddeley. In the 1851 census they can be found together in Glasgow, surname often indexed as Willia. After that they disappear until Elizabeth gets married in Glasgow in 1868 by which time both her parents had died.

At the end of last year, I found a notice in Glasgow newspapers from June 1856, announcing the death of Sarah Baddeley, wife of Mr A.M. Wyllie in Buninyong, Victoria. I have a copy of the death registration from the Victoria BDMs and think it says she had been in Victoria for 5 and a half years. At Victoria BDMs, there is also an entry for the death of Archibald Wyllie in 1861.

I've had a look at passenger lists on Findmypast and Familysearch and haven't found anything relevant to this family. But as I'm not familiar with passenger lists, I may be completely wrong.

My question is - can I find out where Elizabeth was? Did she go to Victoria with her parents? If so, when did she return to Glasgow?

Any suggestions appreciated!

Hi Leslie,

Immigration to Victoria can be found at https://prov.vic.gov.au/explore-collection/explore-topic/passenger-records-and-immigration , then try the various options. Spelling with 1 or 2 "L"s I could not find a match.

Hi Lesley,

There is an Elizabeth Wyllie, traveling in 1857 on the Samuel Locke from Liverpool to Melbourne, but she would have only been 11 then, so it might not be her (the other names in the article might give you a clue if any of them is a relative?). See link below to the newspaper page  with a list of passengers thanking the ship surgeon, including an Elizabeth Wyllie (it is in the second column):

I have also uploaded to his profile a couple of newspaper articles related to her father Archibald that I also found on Trove:

Hope this helps!

found those too so I'll just add this one, the earliest mention of him I found

SHIP Tamerlane, from Glasgow.—If this meets the eye of Dr. Wyllie, a friend wishes to see you. Leave your address J. G., office of this paper.
