Searching Samuel H Ring born 1837 Sumner county TN could this actually be Samuel H King-father Thomas Jefferson King?

I am searching Samuel H Ring which is Samuel H Wring died in Crittenden county Ky May 1904.  His birth March 12 1837 Sumner County Tn.  I cannot find his parents,  I found on family search Samuel H King born abt 1836 or 1837 father Thomas Jefferson King, mother: Mary Ann Phillips King.  On 1850 census it has Thomas Jefferson King and Mary Ann Phillips King and all the children has Ring but has Samuel King as Samuel D Ring. I have called and told them this was a mistake because everything else matches but the D and H in Samuel's name.  I am trying to find out if this is my Samuel H Ring/Wring he is my gggg- grandfather. He went from Tennessee and got married in Trigg County Kentucky in 1857 married a Mary C. Spicer they had a child Oct 8th 1858 named John E. Ring/Thompson (Have all info on this too complicated). Then he married a Mary O'Donnell in Crittenden county Ky abt 1863 had more children and named one of the boys John Edd Wring.  I have lots of info just can't find his parents unless it was King but can't find no proof.

Have you seen images of the actual Census forms, or are you only looking at index records? Indexers are usually very good at deciphering old handwriting on poorly preserved images, but they aren't perfect, and it's very possible to confuse the handwritten letters R and K.

Thomas Jefferson King b. TN 1805 is my gg grandfather. I only have family history for resource and a few censuses of Howell county , MO.  I am trying to find documentation resource but unable. He had 3 wives. Last wife was Winnie Lee Margaret Balton ( Bolton) of whom I am descended.
